Indianapolis - Last week, a woman showed her badge to the owner of an Eastern District convenience store and pretended to be a plainclothes police officer. Then she robbed the store and planned to shake the boss to get more money.

But 38-year-old Tyjwania Spradley was arrested after helping the police arrest the woman when the shop owner returned the next day.

At around 5:00 pm on Wednesday, December 1, a security video showed a woman showing a badge under her jacket to the owner of JJ Minimart on 10th and Tuxedo Street on the east side of Indianapolis. She claimed to be a police officer investigating illegal sales and asked to go behind the counter.

JJ Alshash has been running this convenience store for about 11 years. Arshas showed a security video to 13News, and at the same time told about what happened.

"Open the door," he said, and she ordered. "That's the police. You can't say no to the police. I thought,'Okay.' I opened it. As soon as she came in, she said, "You shouldn't do that. You shouldn't sell that. You have to pay me, because you know, shut up, "Similar things like that."

Arshas soon became suspicious and began to record on his mobile phone.

"Listen, all (expletives) here are illegal. You shouldn't sell these. None of them," the lady can be heard yelling in the recording. "I come here once every two weeks. You keep this (expletive) and you pay me. I will let you open your heart."

The video clearly shows that the woman stole a gun from the counter when the shop owner was distracted to help customers. She also took about $300 from a bucket of coins, cigarettes and clothes.

"I was frozen," Arshas said, "I felt frozen at that moment. What should I do and what should I say when I am frozen. Do the police do this?"

The lady said she would come back in two weeks and ask for more. Instead, she came back around 3:00 pm the next day and asked for a permit for the gun she took.

There was a police badge on her neck again. Arshas pretended to call his boss, but dialed 911. He said he had been put on hold twice and that the woman was nervous and left before the police arrived. But the police recorded her car and pulled her a few blocks away. The police said that when she was stopped, she threw the badge out of the car window.

Spradley was arrested and imprisoned in Marion County Jail for impersonating a law enforcement officer, robbery, and possession of a gun by a serious violent felon.

Spradley's criminal history includes robbery, theft, and illegal drugs. Earlier this year, she had a valid arrest warrant and was previously convicted of theft. She is scheduled to appear in court in the case next week.
